When Annette Mügge bought the traditional inn "Zum Löwen" more than 35 years ago she did not imagine that this rustic restaurant would one day be a modern hotel and restaurant with an outstanding reputation. At the time the inn served bockwurst with potato salad and other snacks.

Annette Mügge's knack for cultivated hospitality and stylish ambience and a sense of what guests are looking for soon turned the inn into one of the best restaurants in Lippe. Head chef Udo Büschemann, who has been there from day one, played a significant role in the restaurant's culinary success. He spoils foodies with his international cuisine that emphasises seasonal market produce and also gives due credit to the cuisine of the region. The restaurant also boasts a large range of beverages.

In June 1993 Annette Mügge fulfilled a long-held wish: within only seven months the hotel "Zum Löwen" was built right next to the restaurant, which is now run by her daughter and the qualified hotel manager Sonja Steinmair and her husband Manfred Steinmair.

The large function room was turned into a modern three-story building extension  with 7 single rooms, 22 double rooms and 4 comfortable suites.

The hotel's décor is stylishly elegant. The design of the guest rooms and lounges also conveys a tasteful atmosphere. Guests can enjoy the start of their day in the light and friendly winter garden over a sumptuous breakfast buffet.

Following further alterations and extensions in 2015 the hotel will feature 39 lovingly furnished hotel rooms.
